Redwood Curtain Bicycle Run to Save Richardson Grove

We are planning an event to support Richardson Grove. This is a positive event beginning with a bike ride/peaceful demonstration from Arcata Plaza to Eureka Courthouse, Eureka to Garberville and ending at Richardson Grove State Park for a ceremony in support of the Ancient Trees in Richardson Grove and the sacred Redwood Curtain. All are invited to bike and/or meet by vehicle at the various rendezvous points on the way to Richardson Grove. We are hoping to also form a group to ride from areas in Mendo to meet North in RG. My partner and I will continue to ride to San Francisco in support of Richardson Grove, and anyone is welcome to continue to SF at their own pace. We hope to spend time in San Francisco and in Berkeley gathering support. We may be able to recruit local sponsors for the campaign, and this may help get our foot in the door of supporting local businesses. Imagine the posters for Richardson Grove in shop windows…under the “guise” of the bicycle event.
Anyone who would like to participate in the organization of this event please email Jeff and Lia at humboldtforestdefense@gmail.com.
We need help putting up event posters, planning the ceremony, leading the ceremony, organizing the camp out, planning safety measures, making banners and bike flags, funding the campsite, and much more, including your opinion and input. We feel that this event will help bring positive attention to the campaign. After all, nowhere in the plans are there bike lanes or pedestrian easements.
Much appreciation and thanks to everyone who is working on the Richardson Grove issue, and more. I know we are all really busy. But if you feel that we need to gain more positive exposure and get a little bit of outdoor exercise in, this may be an ideal opportunity! We plan hit the road pedaling sometime after Earthdance, maybe the 24th of September?
Much peace and love,
Jeff Musgrave
