It’s with concern that we let you know that ever since the end of June the Humboldt Planning Commission has canceled every other meeting scheduled due to lack of a quorum.

Since last Spring the Humboldt Watershed Council’s volunteers have worked hard to pass around and edit the language of the rewrite, as well as to submit our agreed upon language to the commission.

There was suppose to be another meeting tonight, yet again this meeting was canceled (See attachment). Now more than ever we need you to get involved. Towards this end, please read the following message from HWC volunteer Joyce King.

Please, everyone, consider submitting comments to the General Plan Update on Ag and Forest Resources.  I don’t know of any more immediate, direct, and potentially effective thing we can do for our land, wildlife, or for the planet at this time.

Healthy Humboldt will be compiling lists of talking (& writing) points which will be forwarded around October 1st.

Public hearing before the Planning Commssion will start on Oct 15 and probably continue on Oct 22 and Nov 19

If you choose to write, Oct 6 is the deadline for comments to be included in Commissoner’s pre-hearing packets.  Written comments may also be submitted along with oral testimony at the Oct 15 Planning Commission hearing.  In order to ensure full consideration, they require 16? copies.  If you meet the Oct 6 deadline, and your comments are no longer than 2 pages, the Planning Dept will make the copies.
